Guifeng majored in Environmental Engineering and worked on water pollution control technology development, especially sustainable wastewater treatment technology development and evaluation. She is skilled in reactor technology, molecular spectroscopy and molecular biology methods. She have been concentrating on the characteristics of sludge metabolism and the exploration of the interaction mechanism between pollutants and sludge. The main methods includ three-dimensional fluorescence spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy combined with parallel factor analysis and two-dimensional correlation analysis. She also uses molecular biology methods to interpret and optimize the macroscopic properties of the process, from the microscopic perspective of microbial community changes, functional bacterial conversion, and gene regulation.
