Postdoctoral researcher Lang Zhou. (周烺)
B.Eng. 2012 Tongji University, M.S. 2013 University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, Ph.D. 2021 University of Texas at Austin

Lang’s Ph.D. research was about experimenting and modeling reactive
transport and microbial reduction processes in microfluidic devices. He has
rich experience in operating both large-scale reactors and small-scale
microfluidics, as well as numerical modeling in porous media. He studied the
nitrate reduction by Shewanella in
the presence of antibiotic concentration gradients (funded by NASA) and the
sulfate reduction by sulfate-reducing bacteria in shale fracture (funded by DuPont),
advised by Prof. Werth from UT and co-advised by Prof. Fouke from UIUC. He has
also collaborated with Prof. Dai from Tongji on advanced oxidation of organic
pollutants in groundwater, funded by MOST.
Lang is currently collaborating with Prof. Lu in Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) to apply advanced biotechnology and information technology in wastewater treatment and soil/groundwater remediation.
