Shanshan's research interests revolve around the biosynthesis of extracellular polymeric substances and the preparation of bio-based nano materials, as well as the biosynthesis mechanism. She uses the analytical techniques of both geochemistry and microbiology. She has extensive experience in the researches of bacterial metabolism, metal reduction, and material synthesis.
