Zhida’s research interests include direct CO2 transformation to carbon nanomaterials based on molten salts electrochemistry and rational design of functional (photo)electrocatalysts toward HER, NRR and CO2RR. For molten salts CO2 conversion, he employed eutectic carbonates as medium and CO2 was dissolved and then converted to solid carbon products. By tuning the nucleation sites, carbon atoms originated from CO2 finally formed carbon nanotubes with great application value. In (photo)electrocatalysis domain, he mainly focused on single-atom catalysts synthesis and efficient tuning of the interface between cocatalyst and photoelectrode.

He will explore the possibility of decomposing organic compounds with efficient (photo) electrocatalysts.
